It is our mission to provide timely and useful information to our members and to enhance the productivity, quality and profitability of their woodlands in an environmentally sustainable manner and with due regard for employees, contractors, the local community and all involved in the wood supply chain.
Limerick & Tipperary Woodland Owners Ltd. was formed as a producer group for private forest owners on January 2011. The main objective of the group is to maximise returns to forest owners through good forest management.
Due to a possible conflict of interest, owners or operators of forestry management business will not be eligible for membership.
The group has been financed to date by membership fees. The voluntary commitment of the members has resulted in huge cost savings to the group. To date the Society has over 80 members who between them own approximately 5,000 acres of woodland .
The committee also includes representatives from each cluster area. This ensures that all geographical areas are represented.
To date, 10 cluster groups have been established from east Tipperary to west Limerick.
A website was launched in June 2012. The aim of the website is to efficiently disseminate vital information to members as they require it. New developments in the industry will be posted to the site on a regular basis.
If you are interested in finding out more about improving your management skills, please attend our evening seminars, events and field days.
We will investigate the best legal structure for the group and a recommendation will be presented to the next AGM.
We are also investigating if grant aid is available to help conduct an extensive inventory of the volume of timber available for harvesting in the years ahead.
The legal state of the group was confirmed in September as Limerick and Tipperary Woodland Owners Ltd.
This is a "company, limited by guarentee", where maximum exposure to each member, in the event of failure of the company, is one euro.
