For a Better Future
An independent representative body of private forestry owners.
we are ltwo ltd
National representative of forestry owners
LTWO Ltd. has evolved into a national representative body for forest owners who are dissatisfied with their current representation on forestry issues. The organisation was originally established in 2010 as a forestry producer group to provide information and advice in Counties Limerick and Tipperary. Membership now includes landowners from all Counties of Ireland. Through our efforts in highlighting the financial and social impact of Ash Dieback, we have become the principal voice of Ash plantation owners across Ireland.
Over the last two years, we have brought the issue to the Oireachtas and to the national media as well as to the Minister and the Forest Service. We have become synonymous with a changing attitude on the part of the latter, to the extent that it is now possible to envisage a resolution to the issue of proper treatment of affected owners of ash plantations.
We feel that there is now a duty on our part to be the independent lead agency on many other forestry issues. For instance, we are currently an independent voice expressing any reservations about the heavily promoted new Forestry Programme. We have never accepted Govt. funding to promote a Forestry Programme.

Our mission
About Us
We have evolved into a national representative body for forest owners who are dissatisfied with their current representation on forestry issues.
Our original focus in 2010 was as a forestry producer group to provide information and advice in Counties Limerick and Tipperary. Membership now includes landowners from all Counties of Ireland.
As we embark on a new year, our focus remains unwavering. We are committed to advocating for forest owners, engaging with policymakers, and fostering collaboration within the industry. Our journey continues, driven by a shared vision for a resilient and sustainable forestry sector.
Join Us in Making a Difference
I invite each of you to join us in shaping the future of Irish forestry and ensuring tha private forest owners are represented at every level. Your contributions, whether through volunteering time or maintaining membership support, are invaluable in building a stronger and more vibrant forestry community.
Together, we have achieved much, and together, we will continue to make a difference.
What we are facing
The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine
The DAFM is choosing to ignore the permanent financial cost to woodland owners of the requirement to plant and maintain a higher percentage of non-commercial broadleaves/ areas of unproductive biodiversity in a softwood plantation. The higher premiums which are not inflation linked do not in any way compensate for the fact that you can only plant at best two thirds of each acre with a commercial crop. The remaining one third has to be left idle or planted with uneconomic broadleaves. That one third is of benefit to society, but it is of minimal benefit to the landowner. Shouldn’t society cover this cost? Why should a person who decides to plant trees bear all the cost of providing environmental forestry which is in effect a public good?
Knowledge Transfer Scheme
The Forestry KTG, is a scheme funded by the Dept. of Agriculture and has the aim of increasing the level of forest management activity among participating forest owners. It consists of attending 7 classes/events, within a maximum size group of 20 forest owners, overseen by a qualified forester. The topics covered will be set by each group at their first meeting and agreement of future dates/times of the remaining classes will also be agreed.
Because Forestry is a new crop/enterprise to Irish farmers, there was a clear requirement to provide a basic level to knowledge and empower them to manage their own forests over its rotation. Travel expenses for all classes will be covered. See T&C’s.
