Our Founding

Limerick & Tipperary Woodland Owners Ltd. was formed in 2010, as a producer group for private forest owners. However, the emphasis in recent years has changed and we are now a representative body, at National level, for forest owners who are dissatisfied with their current representation on forestry issues.

The main objective of the group is to maximise returns to forest owners through good forest management.

To date the society has 300 members who between them own approximately 15,000 acres of woodland.
Members are from all over Ireland and all geographical areas and interests are represented.

A website was launched in June 2012. The aim of the website was to efficiently disseminate vital information to members as they require it. A new website reflecting the serious issues affecting forest owners and our efforts to combat them, was launched in 2024.

The LTWO Ltd were instrumental in establishing the Knowledge Transfer Scheme(KTG) for forestry in 2017.

The legal state of the group was confirmed in September 2014 as Limerick and Tipperary Woodland Owners Ltd.  or LTWO Ltd.

Due to a possible conflict of interest, owners or operators of forestry management business’s will not be eligible for membership.

New growers need to be informed of the risks attached to planting forestry

Our Mission

Our mission is clear: to provide valuable information and support to our members while promoting sustainable forestry practices. Since our formation as a producer group in 2010, our main focus has been on helping private forest owners optimise their returns through effective forest management. Our first committee, comprised of Michael Ryan, John Reardon, Michael Carew, and Colum Walsh.

Since then, we have worked tirelessly to ensure that our members receive the resources they need to enhance the productivity, quality, and profitability of their woodlands. We prioritise environmental sustainability and maintain a strong commitment to the well-being of employees, contractors, the local community, and everyone involved in the wood supply chain.

Our diverse membership represents various geographical areas and interests within the forestry sector. In June 2012, we launched our website to efficiently provide vital information to our members. Notably, we played a pivotal role in establishing the Knowledge Transfer Scheme (KTG) for forestry in 2017.

A combination of field days, evening classes, road grant, pruning and license applications, measuring event, talks on Taxation, Health and Safety, marketing and visits to industry are planned for 2012

Our Focus

The emphasis in recent years has changed and we are now a representative body, at National level, for forest owners who are dissatisfied with their current representation on forestry issues. In 2024, we unveiled a new website to address the significant issues facing forest owners and our efforts to address them. Additionally, in September 2014, our legal status was officially confirmed as Limerick and Tipperary Woodland Owners Ltd. or LTWO Ltd.

Our Organisation

Our organisation has a membership of over 300 individuals who collectively

Our Independence

Our independence is vital when so many Forestry Groups have been recruited with the objective of providing only promotional information to new forestry owners.                        The New Forestry Programme does not just affect first time forestry growers. Its conditions and obligations are likely to be applied to existing forestry owners when replanting, as a condition of their felling licence.
